There was much anticipation and excitement leading up to Once Upon A Holiday this year. Moving the show to Roswell was exciting for Charlotte, the SIDEWAYS dancers, and the rest of the cast, and also meant that it was time for some exciting new changes. Hours of hard work from the cast and crew went into revamping the show into a bigger and better production on a beautiful stage. Cast positions were added, new set pieces were added and designed, choreography was updated, and characters were developed. Everyone involved with the show was excited to bring the show to a more local venue, allowing for many family and friends to see it for the first time. Needless to say, Once Upon A Holiday was a huge success this year!
Once Upon A Holiday had record breaking audience numbers this year, and we want to thank everyone who came to the show to support us! Backstage, dancers were filled with excitement about sharing their holiday spirit with family members and friends they knew were in the audience. While some of our audience members were viewing the show for the first time, several audience members were coming back after having seen the show for years. The feedback was unanimous, that this year was the best year of Once Upon A Holiday so far.
Charlotte was able to share our exciting announcement about Foster-Schmidt and SIDEWAYS performing at Disney this coming June. The Foster-Schmidt Dance Company opened the two matinee performances with their jazz performance of “Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland!” They got audience members excited and ready for the holiday season, and left everyone with smiles. SIDEWAYS always looks forward to continuing the partnership with Foster-Schmidt Company members, and we know that new and exciting things are on the horizon.
We could not have had such a successful Once Upon A Holiday without the support of our SIDEWAYS members, and several volunteers who helped with the load in, back stage, box office, strike, and more! SIDEWAYS looks forward to making Once Upon A Holiday a Roswell tradition, and can’t wait to bring it to the stage again next year. Thank you to everyone who attended the show, and we hope you have a Happy Holiday season!
