The Foster Schmidt Dance Academy (FSDA) for Down Syndrome is the community outreach of SIDEWAYS Contemporary Dance Company, a non-profit dance troupe, based in Roswell, Georgia. FSDA provides classes for Down syndrome students of all ages to grow mentally and physically through dance. These dancers get many social opportunities that they would not get otherwise including being guest performers in SIDEWAYS productions. These privileges give these special dancers confidence and also inspire those who are around them.
The National Down Syndrome Congress is a US organization for people with Down syndrome, their families, and the professionals who work with them. They provide information and support concerning all aspects of life for individuals with Down syndrome. NDSC is holding their next meeting next July and SIDEWAYS would like to give the dancers of the Foster-Schmidt Dance Academy the once in a lifetime opportunity to attend this meeting. SIDEWAYS and FSDA would love to be able to speak and give a performance at the meeting to get the word out about both programs and allow the dancers to showcase their special dancing abilities to an audience who would truly be appreciative. To get them there, we need your help! It is our goal to raise enough funds to transport the FSDA and SIDEWAYS dancers to the meeting. Every bit helps and we would greatly appreciate it!
Fundraising ends Friday, June 13th. For more details about SIDEWAYS, Foster-Schmidt Dance Academy, or the National Down Syndrome Congress click the link below
