The Foster-Schmidt Dance Company is on tour this October, performing all around the Atlanta area. The company has 5 booked performances this month, so you have plenty of chances to witness the talent of these beautiful young ladies.
The company’s first performance is Friday, October 3 at the Ikonic Dance Studio in Atlanta, GA. Project Dance Atlanta invited the Foster-Schmidt Dance Company to come and perform for the students that will be studying at their convention this weekend. We are excited to be a part of this experience, as “Project Dance is a movement of dancers seeking to positively impact culture through artistic integrity.” The FSDC will be performing their contemporary dance, “Beautiful.”
Next you can catch the FSDC parading through Historic Roswell, at Roswell’s annual Youth Day Parade. They will parade with students from Atlanta Dance Central’s Atlanta Rising Talent Company. The Roswell Youth Day Parade is Saturday October 11 at 10 a.m! Just 5 days later, the Foster-Schmidt Dance Company will return to Roswell’s historic Canton Street for the final Alive After 5 of the season. At this performance, the FSDC will be giving you a sneak peek of their upcoming Frankenstein’s Frolic performance with SIDEWAYS Contemporary Dance Company. We can’t wait to see you out and about in Roswell this month!
On Sunday, October 19, students of the Foster-Schmidt Dance Academy will return to downtown Atlanta for the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta’s Buddy Walk in Centennial Olympic Park. The students will be performing their energetic jazz dance, “Bop to the Top” at 1 p.m.
“The Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Funds raised from the walk for DSAA in 2013 were used to provide immediate information and assistance to new parents and to families through educational seminars, social events, monthly networking groups for moms and dads, scholarships for camps and conferences and education materials and resources to the community.” – Vanessa Champlin of the DSAA
Finally, you can catch the FSDC at Atlanta Dance Central on Sunday, October 26 for “Frankenstein’s Frolic.” Frankenstein’s Frolic is a haunted carnival and dance performance. All of the carnival games are free, and the performance is just $5. The FSDC dancers will dance with SIDEWAYS Company members to “Thriller.” This festival is fun for all ages, and you can see the performance at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.
